Reflections on the Universe- Mt. Fuji Edition

Hello all! I returned from our 12 day vacation only five days ago, which is so difficult to believe. The places we visited, the food we experienced, and the people we met will forever hold a place in my memories and in my heart.

Today I really just wanted to share some pictures from Mt. Fuji and my time climbing up the mountain. And since I have a flu bug and have been holed up in my apartment, there is no time better than now!

Julia, Nikki, and myself left Sendai on Thursday the 11th. It was my first experience riding the Shinkansen Bullet Train, which I must say, is the smoothest and fastest ride imaginable.  We passed through Fukushima and various other cities on the Japanese countryside heading south to Tokyo.
I will not mention too much about our time in Tokyo. I was able to take Nikki to many of the places Tomo took me to in March, and I had absolutely no trouble navigating the subway and JR Lines by myself this time (Thanks Tomo! You taught me well!).

However, one thing is worth mentioning...WE ATE REAL MEXICAN FOOD. I wanted to try this Mexican Place called "Guzman Y Gomez" last time I was in Tokyo in Shinjuku, but just didn't have the time. Nikki and I were absolutely ecstatic to find this place and didn't even care that we both spent almost twenty dollars a piece on our meal.

After exploring Tokyo Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning, we rode the train to Fussa to meet up with my friend at the base. Our hiking party totaled 5, the perfect number for trekking up a mountain.
I was concerned about the weather, which forecasted rain. However, about one in the morning, the clouds and mist completed lifted to reveal the most gorgeous sky I have ever seen. There was no way to capture the beauty on an iPhone 6, but you could see virtually every constellation in the sky. I guess the only way you will see it is if you go climb Mt. Fuji for yourself.

My favorite moments, beside the endless laughs with our little company various colorful conversations with others hiking, were just turning off my headlamp with no one else around me and gazing at the sky. It was truly breathtaking. It reminded me how incredibly small and inconsequential I am, but how great the Father's love is for every one of us. You could see the glory of God in the heavens on display for all to see, and it is something I will treasure for the rest of my life.
