A New Chapter: Meysen Academy

Friends and Family, I have some thrilling news!  I will be (Lord willing) going to teach at a private Christian after-school program starting in February 2016.  This school was started about 50 years ago, and is very well-known for its English as a Foreign Language Program (EFL). I am ecstatic about this opportunity, and as many of you know, I had absolutely no intention of teaching again after the past school year. But sometimes, God opens a door that you know was meant for you. And, why not? Might as well go on another adventure before I get too old and decrepit. =) If you want to check out the school's website, I encourage you to do so; it shows you so much of what the school is like through the informational links and pictures (if it automatically translates the website to Japanese, go click in the top left hand corner on the English link).  The school is Meysen Academy. http://www.meysen.ac.jp/en/default.htm
The months of February and March will be training months, where all the new teachers will be learning the curriculum, called "Grape Seed".  The curriculum is based mostly on songs (which I am stoked about) and also has stories that accompany the lessons. The great thing is, I won't truly be going over by myself; many other teachers, from all over the United States will be traveling to Sendai as well. The school year starts at the beginning of April, so I will be gone for a total of 14 months (February 2016-March 2017). I do not have a date set yet to leave, but as soon as my Japanese work visa is approved (probably in two more weeks or so), my plane ticket will be purchased!
Thinking about going overseas again (which I still haven't wrapped my mind around) reminded me of the blog from when I went to Ghana, almost six years ago now.  Reading through all my posts from 2010 brought a smile to my face, and all the memories came rushing back, like it was just yesterday.  I have another month and half until I leave for Japan, so in the meantime I will be relaxing and spending time with the people dearest to my heart.  I look forward to posting (hopefully) humorous stories and pictures of the new world that I will find myself immersed in. Until I write again from Japan, may you all have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and remember to be thankful for each and every blessing from our Father, who is always faithful and steadfast.
